Database Administrator - Clinical Research Expertise - NIH - Bethesda, MD

We are currently seeking a Database Administrator to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

OVERVIEW. This is a long-term, open-ended contract position which offers:

TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall:

  • Work with Branch staff to manage and maintain data for past and present studies for the Human Motor Control Section, the Human Cortical Plasticity & Stroke Neurorehabilitation Section and the Parkinson Disease Clinic.
  • Provide support with data sharing, including public repositories.
  • Organize and catalog subjects in several imaging and neuro-physiological data studies within the Branch.
  • Work with protocol teams to prepare and standardize data for the video database.
  • Manage physical data storage of all files and binders on site.
  • Work with staff on managing data storage on the internal server.
  • Organize, implement, maintain and archive data.
  • Enhance data management and sharing practices.
  • Apply database management concepts, principles and methods, including data management systems, storage capacity management, backup and recovery, data storage media and other tools used for data management.
  • Ensure that the organization has access to current stored information.


REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in clinical research or data management.
  • Ability to use management tools and computer database programs, such as Filemaker Pro.
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail.
