TASKS/SERVICES: The contractor shall:
(1) Keep and maintain a clean and efficient working laboratory environment devoid of RNAase and PCR contaminations.
(2) Order and organize necessary supplies and reagents.
(3) Maintain accurate sample tracking and data management.
(4) Stay current with regards to latest protocols, applications, scientific methodology, sample handling and processing relevant to next generation DNA sequencing technologies.
(5) Exercise proper laboratory disposal methods and safety procedures.
(6) Molecular cloning, PCR including reverse transcription (RT-PCR) and real time/quantitative (qPCR) methods, cell transfection, immunofluorescence/ immunohistochemistry staining
(7) Immunoblots of expressed proteins, protein activation, modifications, and protein arrays, with processing of tissue and inclusion of, immunofluorescence
(8) Experience in epithelial cell biology, extracellular matrix biology
(9) Experiments will include target silencing by RNAi, target overexpression, and compound treatment of cancer cell lines.
(10) Construct plasmid DNA constructs for expression in E. coli, insect, and mammalian cells using standard molecular biology techniques including PCR, restriction digestion, DNA fragment isolation and clean up, ligation into vectors, plasmid preps, and DNA sequencing
(11) Conduct independent laboratory research projects.
(12) Write up laboratory notebooks regularly in compliance with GSP and internal policies.
(13) Plan experiments on a weekly basis with moderate guidance
(14) Analyzes, interprets and reports data effectively.
(15) Provide lab support for mammalian cell and tissue culture; tasks will include, but aren't limited to, media and buffer preparation, stock and inventory of lab supplies, aliquot reagents
(16) Implement necessary changes following discussion with peers/ supervisor
(17) Assist in analysis and interpretation of experimental data, results and methodology used with appropriate guidance

REQUIREMENTS: The contractor ideally would have:
(1) Master’s degree in Biology, Life Sciences or a related discipline. Three (3) years of specialized experience plus a Bachelor’s degree is equivalent to a Master’s degree.
(2) Minimum of four (4) years of experience working in a laboratory environment.
(3) Demonstrates advanced experience in performing molecular biology research.
(4) Excellent aseptic cell culture skills
(5) Demonstrates knowledge in managing and disposing of hazardous waste.
(6) Experience working with animal models, Zebrafish, and/or C. elegans is a plus
(7) Experience with confocal microscopy is a plus
(8) Ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously
