Data Analyst - NIH - Rockville, MD

TASKS. The contractor shall:

  • Maintain databases and spreadsheets related to various data sharing activities.
  • Provide support for all data sharing related activities; create and maintain data access and data submission tracking systems and reports to be presented to senior program leadership.
  • Maintain databases and spreadsheets for tracking and analyzing submission of datasets into the NIH’s Database of Genotypes and Phenotypes (dbGaP).
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets for tracking and analyzing investigators’ requests to access datasets available through dbGaP.
  • Design, develop and maintain databases, Listservs, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and other computer applications.
  • Create and present data sharing training materials to program staff.
  • Create and distribute newsletters and educational materials for outside investigators.
  • Provide guidance to program staff on collecting the information required for genomic data sharing consistent with NIH policy.
  • Stay current on NIH policies related to genomic data sharing and participate on NIH-wide committees charged with the implementation of the policies.
  • Provide administrative support to the NCI Data Access Committees; track and monitor all requests for data access.
  • Work with staff on meeting and workshop planning.
  • Work with staff on conducting literature reviews, particularly providing scientific expertise in the area of genetic epidemiology and genomic data sharing.
  • Undertake special assignments requiring fact-finding research; compose reports for use by staff.


REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:

  • Master’s degree in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of one to two (1-2) years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of Genetic Epidemiology or related data driven field (Genomics, Bioinformatics).
  • Knowledge of project management, organizing and tracking data and performing analyses.
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
