JOB DESCRIPTION:

Engineering Technician – Lewisville, TX

Kelly Services is currently seeking an Engineering Technician for one of our top clients in Lewisville, TX.

General Summary: 
GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Production Supervisor or Engineering Manager, the Engineering Technician will perform technical evaluation of new and existing devices, develop process, tests, and documentation required to support all production repair functions. PC hardware & software maintenance and troubleshooting skills are essential. Attention to detail and proficiency in analog, digital and RF disciplines is required. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: Repair NPI Device Analysis – 65%, Production Support – 20%, Returns and Failure Analysis – 15%, 

1. Review new launch documentation and perform first article build. 
2. Provide feedback to Process Engineering team regarding NPI process and documentation accuracy. 
3. Perform Repair associate training for new launch product 
4. Perform Returns analysis to identify process improvement opportunities 
5. Technical liaison to Engineering with regards to line impacting escalations 
6. Level 2/3 failure evaluation to include RF. Component, & programming failure analysis 
7. New product process and document support to include but not limited to: 
a. Assembly / disassembly 
b. Functional inspection 
c. Flashing / provisioning 
d. RF test 
e. Label generation 
f. Hand programming 
g. Technical troubleshoot 
h. Packaging specification 
i. BOM creation & yield analysis 
j. Reclamation 
8. Coordinate with Process Engineering, QA, and Materials associates to address line impacting component escalations and determine alternate source components. 

SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 

1. Ability to work from complex schematic, layouts, and diagrams. 
2. Utilize multimeters, oscilloscopes, RF signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and communication test sets. 
3. OEM level 2 & 3 training 
4. Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, & Excel) for purpose of editing, revising, and creating production documentation creation where necessary.

EDUCATION: Associates degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent trade school certification. 

EXPERIENCE: Typically requires 2+ years of experience (preferably Level 2 technician) with strong customer service skills. 

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

1. Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend moderately complex instructions. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees, team leaders, managers and supervisors of the organization. 
2. Mathematical Skills: Requires basic arithmetic skills. 
3. Communication/Interaction: Ability to use positive interpersonal skills to handle customer problems. Must possess oral and written communication skills and attention to detail. 
4. Actively identify & pursue process improvement initiatives. 
5. Identify and report deficiencies and potential improvements to the department Supervisor. 
6. Perform root cause failure analysis on field failures (returns) and repair process failures.
