We are currently seeking a Biostatistician to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in Rockville, MD.

OVERVIEW. This is a part-time contract position which offers:

TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall:

  • Provide health services research and technical expertise for the Addiction Medicine Practice Based Research Network (AMNet).
  • Participate in and contribute to different aspects of AMNet through planning, decision-making, problem-solving, and strategic analysis.
  • Provide leadership on behalf of the NIDA DESPR on data analyses and analytical reports and manuscripts related to the development and use of AMNet and related DESPR projects.
  • Provide biostatistical and data analytic leadership and technical expertise for the Division of Epidemiology, Service and Prevention Research at NIDA.
  • Participate in and lead data analysis activities using existing databases (e.g., administrative claims data, data from large clinical trials and/or epidemiological cohort studies).
  • Analyze, interpret, communicate, document, epidemiologic and clinical trials data and results.
  • Communicate research findings, disseminate public information, and respond to relevant inquiries.
  • Conduct relevant literature reviews and collaborate on relevant research publications.
  • Collect and analyze data; prepare summaries and reports for staff review.
  • Facilitate communication and collaborative efforts with other NIH Institutes and Department agencies in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Stay abreast of relevant science and current research, as well as relevant regulatory and policy-related issues.
  • Assist in the planning and organization of meetings and teleconference calls.

 

REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:

  • Ph.D. in health services research, biostatistics or related health-science discipline; three (3) years of specialized experience plus a Master's degree is equivalent to a Ph.D.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of related experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with large scale administrative and/or clinical trials data; or an MPH with an emphasis in biostatistics, or an MS in biostatistics.  Masters level candidates should possess a minimum of seven years of experience working on large-scale clinical trials or health services research projects.
  • Documented leadership role in conducting and/or managing health services or clinical trials research.
  • Experience in data analyses software such as SAS or Stata; expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Publication record commensurate with experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, exceptional attention to details, and excellent writing skills.
  • Outstanding analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited or no supervision, as well as collaboratively within a research team.
