Purchasing Specialist

The ideal Purchasing Specialist will assist with all aspects of the purchasing process, reconcile purchase orders to invoices and works to solve discrepancies while maintaining adherence to budget.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reconciles invoice and shipment discrepancies, and communicate results on issue resolution.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships in the supplier community including minority vendors and diversity programs
  • Oversees purchase orders through all stages.
  • Assists with capital budget preparation ensures adherence to budget and other reports as required.
  • Complete receipts, as well as manage the Open Receipts reports.
  • Communicate with vendors on payment status and other aging requests / payments.
  • Process purchase orders through all stages of purchase cycle (requests, creation, change, tracking, closure and deletion).
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with vendors and internal departments.
  • Reconcile invoice and shipment discrepancies; communicate results of resolution.
  • Monitor vendor performance and communicate issues and concerns to management.
  • Manage voucher logs (capital and expense).
  • Complete receipts, as well as manage the Open Receipts reports.
  • Communicate with vendors on payment status and other aging requests / payments.
  • Support EPOD process by monitoring input/output activity.
  •  

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum one (1) years’ experience in purchasing or general accounting.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in purchasing and/or general accounting
  • Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles
  • Strong ability to work with numerical detail and maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner and with all levels of management and company personnel
  • Ability to complete work with limited supervision
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of Ariba
