Proteomic Scientist (Mass spectrometry) - NIH – Bethesda, MD

TASKS. The contractor shall:

  • Generate standardized proteomic mass spectrometry workflows and datasets.
  • Prepare and process samples for proteomic mass spectrometry; analyze resulting proteomic datasets.
  • Run a thermo scientific mass-spectrometer and carry out basic troubleshooting of the instrument.
  • Function as a member of a team of researchers associated with the iPSC neurodegenerative disease initiative (INDI).
  • Perform ad hoc research support to NINDS as needed by the point of contact.
  • Conduct independent research relating to the genetics of ADRD, to include independent application of proteomic mass spectrometry techniques and related sample preparation and data analysis techniques.
  • Update and maintain laboratory notebooks and databases.
  • Collect, analyze and interpret data; prepare summaries and reports based on data results.
  • Establish and maintain data communication as an essential part of the overall project; interact with other laboratories within NIA and NINDS.
  • Provide project updates on an ongoing and weekly basis
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings; prepare presentations for staff discussion.
  • Draft and revise manuscripts based on results and findings.
  • Ensure that the scope of work and general requirements are being fulfilled.


REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:

  • Ph.D. in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related experience.
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
