EHS Specialist

                                                                         Manufacturing Facilities EHS Specialist, West Palm Beach, FL  

Kelly Services, Inc. is currently seeking a Manufacturing Facilities EHS Specialist for one of our largest clients located in West Palm Beach, FL.

Our client is one of our largest, most innovative and comprehensive orthopedic and neurological business in the world today.


EHS, environmental health and safety background, in a manufacturing environment. This person will assist with permits and related activities.  This position will support a 12-month project (possibly longer). 

The Manufacturing Facility EHS Specialist position includes benefits (medical/dental, paid time off, holidays, etc.)

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable EHS regulatory laws and requirements and with site EHS policy and practice.
  • Responsible for the duties of the EMS (Environmental Management System), Management Representative, as well as site health and safety programs. 
  • Works closely with the EHS Site Lead to communicate, update and enforce corporate EHS policy.
  • Communicates applicable federal/state regulations/issues.
  • Conducts periodic review/inspection/audit visits, reporting observations and recommendations to EHS management.
  • Investigates and reports regarding environmental incidents.
  • Constructs and maintains current environmental profile of facility, flagging potential problem areas and possible out-of-compliance operations to management along with recommended resolutions.
  • Assists in site’s EHS assessments and specific issue-related corrective actions as directed by the EHS management.
  • Organizes and coordinates waste shipments, waste stream analysis and outside consultant assistance as needed.
  • Develops and/or maintains written procedures to comply with OSHA regulations, Environmental Management System ISO 14001 Requirements and internal Standards.
  • Supports the preparation and implementation of the ISO 14001 process at the site.
  • Works as an integral support of site projects by providing technical support and working with the team on resolving potential risks and issues.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, minimum 4 years’ experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Organizes and coordinates waste shipments, waste stream analysis and outside consultant assistance as needed.
  • EHS regulatory laws and requirements and with site EHS policy and practice.
  • Constructs and maintains current environmental profile of facility, flagging potential problem areas and possible out-of-compliance operations to management along with recommended resolutions.
  • Knowledge / Training on DOT, IATA (Dangerous Goods), RCRA, EPA, GHS, CWA and OSHA Regulations.
  • Responsible for the permitting, licensing, and internal enforcement involving compliance with all current and forthcoming environmental regulations for all assigned divisions facilities.  
  • Reports issues with regulatory agencies to local management.
  • Must have problem resolution and negotiating skills as well as high compliance-related orientation.
  • Excellent motivational, interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Must be able to build and maintain professional working relationships with all levels of plant operations and staff.
  • Must be able to work well through, and with, a wide range of individuals concerning environmental, health and safety regulatory and optimum manufacturing processes. 
  • Must be self-driven and proficiency in Excel tools is a must.
  • Training and presentation skills – ability to conduct instructor-led trainings and computer-based training as well prepare all the documentation for the trainings.
  • ISO 14001 Training.
