Engineering Co-op

Engineering/ Quality Engineering Co-op  (Ottawa, Ohio)

Quality Engineering Co-Op opening to join our client's Ottawa Manufacturing organization. For this role, the Co-op will work with manufacturing operations and suppliers on containment of non-conforming material and establishing the root cause of quality issues that impact manufacturing.  Incumbent will work with suppliers and other cross-functional teams to create quality plans, implement corrective actions, generate quality metrics, and continually improve quality systems. Also, they will support quality and cost projects by attending product reviews, evaluating PPAP's, and working on many other functions that ensure new parts and processes meet quality requirements prior to production.  
Your Day-to-Day:
Support team conducting the activities of manufacturing organizations to maintain and improve production quality. 
Planning, managing and reviewing production operations to achieve output and quality objectives; and monitoring and maintaining machines and production equipment.
Lead scrap reduction initiatives, including project scope and timeline development, problem solving with suppliers, establishing standardized solutions and implementing changes.
Manage equipment / resource relocation projects within the Ottawa manufacturing organization which could include:  redesign of current equipment or resources, and leading change management with impacted team members.
Design, develop, review and conduct coordination for test programs or components, small systems or processes, or materials taking into account customers and quality requirements.
Focus on quality initiatives across a plant including:  increasing first pass yield, scrap reduction, etc.
Coordinate with business partners across functions, from Procurement and Supply Chain to Engineering.

Background and Experience:
Progress toward completing a B.S degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Operations Management.
Sophomore standing or higher with minimum cumulative G.P.A of 3.0/4.0 (Client will schedule working hours around school schedule).
Demonstrated maturity and confidence to effectively present ideas and projects.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships in a culturally diverse environment.
Self-discipline and ability to manage competing priorities.
Proven decision-making skills and ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex business problems through innovation and creativity.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to lead and work with teams and achieve extraordinary results.
