Information Technology Services is seeking a talented Software Engineer with an exceptional commitment to service excellence to join its team. As the Software Engineer, you will be an integral member of the organization’s team, with strong .NET and Angular experience collaborating with diverse and talented team members to help solve multidimensional information technology problems, improve customer experience, and generate value for our campus stakeholders across a broad base of departments and constituencies.  

The Software Engineer supports all of the oraganization’s operations and coordination by being a resource to ensure software development standards, compliance, and quality assurance. The Software Engineer supports major projects by utilizing knowledge and tools as advised by the Technology Lead, monitoring deliverables and timelines, supporting process improvement, and creating EPMO status reports. Additionally, this role is responsible for working closely with customers and project teams to schedule and prepare for project life-cycle reviews.

The team is committed to providing information technology (IT) services and support to the university. ITS provides essential, university-wide services such as:

What Gets You the Job?

  • Extensive experience with .NET Core (backend) and Angular 2 - 8 (front end).  The position is 70% front-end focused, and 30% backend.
  • Comprehensive experience with Oracle, MongoDB, and SQL (datastore and database)
  • Preferred experience with OAuth 2.0
  • Preferred experience with NGRX
  • Preferred experience with Graph QL
  • Ability to work collaborate with UX designers and fellow developers on projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

What You’ll Do:

  • Identifies and implements innovations to streamline, automate, or improve existing PMO processes and tools. Conducts and schedules various PMO training sessions for cross-functional project teams to align on best practices. Supports meeting setup and scheduling, authors meeting agendas, creates summaries and notes, and follows-up on action items.
  • Monitors the scope, budget, schedule, issues, and risks for each project, delivering value and contributing to continuous improvement. Maintains accurate tracking logs for each project, and monitors productivity, effectiveness, and varying complexities by creating project status reports. Supports the delivery of regular project updates, participating in team meetings and developing reports on progress and compliance.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement and delivers value to the ITS organization by monitoring the scope, schedule, budget, risks, and issues of projects.
  • Monitors the productivity and effectiveness of projects with varying complexities by creating project status reports. Maintains an accurate project tracking log for each project. Supports the delivery of regular project updates by participating in project team meetings and developing reports on project progress and compliance.
  • Seeks to understand and resolve project issues in a timely fashion by supporting risk mitigation and contingency planning. Appropriately escalates disruptions and dependencies to department leadership. Utilizes proper change control processes.
  • Supports all projects using the project management methodology. Demonstrates proficiency in project management tools, service management frameworks, and ITS technology strategy.
  • Performs regular project documentation activities. Collects project data and analyzes data to identify opportunities, risks, and progress. Communicates analyzed data to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Contributes to an inclusive environment that values differences by building and maintaining collaborative relationships with team members, peers, and ITS leaders. Actively embodies ITS values and behaviors including accountability, ethics, and best-in-class customer service. Contributes to a culture of trust and transparency by sharing information broadly, openly, and deliberately.
  • Supports the vision for the Enterprise Program Management Office. Works closely with team members and management to implement and support effective solutions for project management. Maintains currency with technology, standards, and best practices. Supports process improvement efforts within the team and across ITS.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

 

The Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business administration, computer science, etc., or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in information technology, project management, or higher education.
  • Knowledge of or familiarity with project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Experience working in a project-based, technical environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software such as Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Project, etc.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Experience analyzing large datasets.
  • Experience creating effective status reports.
  • Strong analysis and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience with program coordination.
  • Organizational skills to balance work and resources.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members.

 

The Nice to Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business administration, computer science, etc.
  • More than four years of experience in information technology, project management, or higher education.
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM).
  • Knowledge of fiscal planning, business case development, and contract management.
  • Advanced SharePoint and workflow skills.
  • Project management or related certification (Agile Scrum, Six Sigma, Business Analyst, ITIL Foundations, etc.).
  • Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool experience.
