Kelly Engineering Resources has an outstanding contract/contract to hire opportunities for a Machinery Maintenance Technician with strong mechanical and electrical trouble shooting and repair skills. In this role, you would join a refrigerated food processing/distribution facility located in Livonia, MI. You will do preventative maintenance, mechanical & electrical trouble shooting & repair of packaging machinery, conveyors, case erectors, compressors, etc.

Our client has a 24/7 operation and has multiple openings on days and nights. Please specify your shift preference when applying.

  • A1 – Work: Sun, Mon, Tues – 12 hours days, Wed – 6 hours day, Off: Thurs, Fri, Sat
  • A2- Work: Sun, Mon, Tues – 12 hours nights, Wed- 6 hours nights, Off: Thurs, Fri, Sat
  • B1 – Work: Wed -6 hours days, Thurs, Fri, Sat -12 hours day, Off: Sun, Mon, Tues
  • B2 – Work: Wed – 6 hours nights, Thurs, Fri, Sat- 12hours nights, Off: Sun, Mon, Tues

Essential Responsibilities of the Machinery Maintenance Technician:

  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to all material/product handling equipment components and resolve the issues.
  • Responsible for maintenance of mechanical assets throughout the facility as set forth by the facility Maintenance Manager.
  • Trouble shoot basic electronics
  • Trouble shoot Programmable Logic Controls (PLC)
  • Ensure equipment, tools, and spare parts are accounted for and secured when not in use.
  • Perform preventative / predictive and emergency maintenance of equipment using appropriate job plans, procedures and manuals within safe, legal and contractually permissible limits.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot motors, photo eyes, relays and proximity sensors.
  • Assist with new machinery installations including working with electrical up to 480V
  • Assist in mentoring junior technicians by providing guidance and directions to help them develop.
  • Responsible for maintaining spirit of teamwork and productivity among fellow maintenance personnel.

Qualifications of the Successful Machinery Maintenance Technician:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.  Associates Degree or some college courses a plus.
  • Minimum 4 -5 year’ s experience in Electrical, HVAC and/or Millwright in a manufacturing environment required. Experience should include:
    • Trouble shooting electrical up to 480V
    • Machinery hydraulics, pneumatics
    • Install & wire PLCs
    • VFD drives – replace and install required, programming a plus
    • Ladder logic for trouble shooting PLCs is plus
  • Partial completion of a Maintenance Mechanic, Electrician, or Millwright apprenticeship program is preferred, if do not have a state indentured Journeyman card. Additional relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Experience with predictive / preventative maintenance tools and procedures
  • Team player with positive work attitude.
  • Environment includes an expansive refrigerated warehouse, where the temperature averages 50°F.
  • The background noise approaches 70 decibels
  • Must be able to lift up to 30lbs. with or without accommodations.
  • Successful completion a background check and drug screening.
