Kelly Services is seeking a talented CAD Design Engineers for multiple contract roles with our automotive clients in the Detroit Metro area. The ideal candidate will have a completed four-year degree in ME, EE or CE or 5-7 years of experience in CAD design and experience in CATIA V5 GSD, Part Design or Asy Design. 

Day Shift            

In this role you will:

  • Lead the development and release of digital design data (CAD) representing vehicle subsystems which are functionally compliant, manufacturing feasible and meet corporate and program targets.
  • Collaboratively create innovative designs with Studio, Craftsmanship, System and Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Use Ford digital tools (CATIA V5, TCe, TCe Vis Mockup) to create new, innovative product and system designs
  • Use TCe PLM to help integrate system designs
  • Work closely with Design and CAE Engineers to verify designs are robust and functionally compliant; proactively devise new solutions to resolve design, assembly, service and manufacturing issues
  • Collaborate with part and assembly Manufacturing Engineers to develop manufacturing feasible solutions
  • Collaborate with Studio and Craftsmanship Engineers to develop innovative designs
  • Apply GD&T to drawings and/or Part Manufacturing Information to help ensure repeatable quality designs
  • Help develop digital automation tools that align product definition to design rules, requirements and corporate standards to generate repeatable designs

Skills Required:

  • BS – Engineering (ME/EE/CE/Mechatronics) or four-year Engineering Technology degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or Equivalent Experience (5-7 years Engineering CAD Design)
  • Application of CATIA V5 GSD / Part Design / Asy Design
  • Experience in self-teaching CAD tool functionality through experimentation
  • A keen interest in utilizing CAD and PLM tools to their greatest potential
  • Experience in Manufacturing Processes (Injection Molding | Stamping)
  • Exposure to Injection Mold Design and/or Die Design
  • Exposure to CATIA Knowledgeware
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues and effectively communicate to management
  • Interest in programming for automation
  • Ability to communicate clearly and express new ideas
