Risk Analyst

Our client, the world's largest insurance company, is currently seeking a Risk Analyst for a 2-3 month temporary position with the opportunity for an extension. The position is located in Minneapolis, MN.

The hours and pay for this position are as follows:

  • The hours will be 8am to 5pm Monday – Friday
  • The pay rate for this position is up to $73.77 per hour W2

Your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Consult with business areas on projects/internal control identification and documentation
  • Work with business areas to determine remediation plans for internal control deficiencies
  • Jointly responsible for the overall scoping, risk assessment analysis, test of design and effectiveness of all key controls designed to appropriately mitigate financial statement risk
  • Ability to handle multiple, competing priorities
  • Intermediate understanding of internal controls performed and why the process/control is important
  • Maintains a strong understanding of internal control environment including financial procedures and policies as it relates to individual or team processes
  • Easily able to identify internal control weaknesses and/or to develop stronger and more efficient controls
  • Solid understanding of IT systems and processes
  • Effectively responds to inquiries and requests
  • Develop guidance and policies, procedures, analyze scoping and help facilitate and implement guidance
  • Develop education and training
  • Effectively applies our methodology and enforces project standards
  • Ability to work on basic to intermediate projects (with supervision) to build knowledge of company, industry and/or technical knowledge
  • Good understanding of COSO (Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission) control framework
  • Understands and supports the team/division initiatives/goals
  • Proactively communicates status of job responsibilities to manager and/or team
  • Proactively communicates with internal and external customers relevant to job responsibilities
  • Developing ability to mentor less experienced staff

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Math or Finance and 1-3 years of relevant accounting or auditing work experience, including public accounting (5-6 years of experience preferred). Must have a solid understanding of IFRS, US GAAP and Statutory accounting concepts and guidance. Must have strong understanding of IT processes and IT General Controls. Must have strong project management and problem-solving skills. Must have strong written/verbal communication skills. Professional designation (CPA, CISA, CIA, etc.) preferred. Strong life insurance accounting experience preferred. Previous IT audit experience preferred.
