Job Description

We are seeking a Director of Operations for a customer in the Commerce Township with extensive knowledge and experience in freight procurement, logistics, trade compliance, warehousing/distribution center management and supply chain. Essential Functions:
- Lead the logistics teams in support of movement of inventory from vendors to distribution centers, distribution centers to retailers and support of e-commerce shipping strategies and execution.
- Lead the international logistics and compliance groups (both US Customs & Border) including purchasing of international logistics services and U.S. Customs compliance. Provide oversight of C-TPAT certification requirements.
- Negotiate logistics services contracts and pricing agreements with providers in various transportation modes including parcel, LTL, TL, Ocean and global forwarding and customs brokerage services to meet budgetary goals and service metrics.
- Responsible for developing and enforcing standard operating procedures to comply with all local, state and federal regulations related to shipments and transportation.
- Build relationships with carriers, vendors, & internal associates, and help resolve freight and logistics problems that may arise.
- Deep knowledge of the international supply chain, especially as it relates to the Orient sourcing model. Specializes in International supply chain, inbound/outbound transportation, logistics and transportation procurement, import and export compliance, sourcing and business development.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining freight budgets to support the business needs of the organization.
- Ensure cross functional teams work effectively with Operations to optimize inventory levels across the supply chain.
- Manage proactively the integrated processes that drive the supply chain system to address lead times and meet and exceed customers- requirements with respect to on time shipments.
- Determine metrics for critical events in logistics supply chain.


- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field, MBA preferred but not required
- 10+ years relevant experience in the field of logistics, distribution and warehousing in a metrics driven environment
- Experience in inbound, outbound freight, and international logistics (in the Orient) in a distribution center environment.
- Experience in direct-to-consumer parcel freight.
- Experience in transportation management systems and network optimization planning.
- Effective communication skills problem solving and strong negotiating skills.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate within all levels of management
- Financial planning and analysis, understanding of budget and compliance thereof.
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to turn data into measurable performance solutions
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment.
