Under general direction and supervision, assists the study coordinator or study manager or other research investigators by performing research and experimentation following established protocols; identifies technical needs to generate appropriate hypothesis and technical approach; creates, standardizes and executes novel protocols; performs routine lab and equipment maintenance; assists with research projects and perform independent research or perform various clerical or editorial duties; performs supervisory and training duties for interns and technicians. Perform various clerical duties including typing, preparing documentation or correspondence, and applications or paperwork as required. Record research and results, files and maintains records, codes data for electronic data processing, inputs and retrieves data using computers. Maintain appropriate research records of study design and experimentation. Attend staff meetings/conferences as part of a study team. Maintain adequate inventory of research supplies necessary for research activities. Summary: The Research Associate candidate is a highly motivated, experienced scientist with a positive attitude who will execute and develop in vivo and ex vivo studies focused on evaluating efficacy of biologic actives for regenerative tissue technologies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct research in preclinical labs handling rodents and other small animals to apply prototype devices and administer pharmaceutical doses of actives. Independently test efficacy of prototype devices in preclinical and skin models, including performing examinations, tissue isolation and cryostat sectioning, staining, microscopy, optical coherence tomography OCT , ELISA-based assays and other laboratory techniques. Analyze data, interpret results, prepare reports, and maintain accurate records with minimum supervision Design protocols and perform experiments in collaboration with technical team Responsible with others for the biological and chemical safety of the lab Job Requirements: Ph.D. in biological science. Excellent record-keeping, careful attention to detail, and good time management skills to successfully manage multiple priorities. Strong hands-on working knowledge of in vivo and ex vivo skin models with rodent and small animals. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a multi-disciplined group in a goal- and team- oriented setting is required. Positive interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, including proficiency with MS Office software. Experience with cellular biology and GLP-regulated research environments is preferred. Knowledge of statistical methods and design of experiments DOE is preferred.
