Systems Application Technician (Diagnostics), San Diego, CA

Job Summary:  Performs tasks related to the testing of instrumentation under development. Responsible for input into the design of test protocols, as well as carrying out testing, and documentation of test results. Participates in trouble shooting as needed. Occasional travel is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with minimal supervision carrying out testing protocols.
  • Participates in the planning and provides thoughtful input into test protocol design, test tools, procedures, and system enhancements, or improving existing processes.
  • Compiles and analyzes experimental data to assist with the establishment and evaluation of system performance.
  • Follows company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), knows and complies with relevant professional guidelines and standards, such as FDA Guidance documents and Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines.
  • Maintains detailed, laboratory notebooks and any associated documentation for all testing activities  accordance with Quality Systems Regulations (QSRs) 
  • Generates, or assist in the generation and implementation of Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Standard Operating Procedures as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Ensures the proper setting-up, operating and cleaning of equipment used in the evaluation and testing according to relevant SOPs.
  • Assists with troubleshooting related to the use and maintenance of BIO-FLASH instruments.
  • Participates in root cause analysis for unexpected system performance.
  • Follows all established safety and environmental procedures for dealing with potentially biohazardous samples or other materials. Reports all safety' hazards immediately.
  • Works as necessary with other functional groups to help resolve complaints or questions related to the SNOW System.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in biology or related sciences 2+ years of laboratory experience.
  • Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree. In some instances, exceptions to the years of experience can be made based on management discretion.
  • Good working knowledge of biological and chemical laboratory procedures, Rheumatology Research products and procedures, laboratory safety, mathematical and computer skills are required.
  • Excellent laboratory skills, including reagent preparation, liquid filtration, reagent formulation and laboratory equipment operation are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of QSR and ECR systems is necessary.
