I. Statement of Purpose

The Social Media Specialist is responsible for developing and executing an overall social media strategy to support department, including the organization’s branch. This strategy includes an evaluation followed by articulating goals, drafting policies, audience growth, engagement, focused messaging, identifying KPIs and a plan that will support multiple social media initiatives already on-going within the organization.

Day-to-day activities include maintaining content calendars, developing and posting original content, leveraging current digital assets, audit existing social channels and developing and/or participating in the process of responding to both positive and negative comments.

Minimum Education:    

Bachelor's degree in new media/digital journalism, public relations, communications, marketing or related field – preferred

Minimum Experience/Knowledge          

  • 3+ years experience in social media and content marketing within a large organization or agency
  • 3+ years in social media content creation, digital journalism and communications
  • Examples of successful social media communities and digital assets of brands or organizations candidate has recently managed. A strong personal social presence and following is preferred.

Required License/Certification:

Valid California state driver’s license.

Fire and Safety Certification.  If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
