TASKS. The contractor shall:

  • Undertake research projects aimed at understanding physiological and pathological processes in the retina
  • Perform variety of experimental procedures including isolation and analysis of DNA, RNA and protein by routine molecular biology methods, such as, in situ hybridization, immunohistochemical staining, automated DNA sequencing, cell culture, Southern, Northern and Western blot analyses, FACS analysis, real-time RT-PCR and ELISA.
  • Perform in vivo assessment of ocular anatomy and function in animal models
  • Perform anatomical analysis of the retinal tissue in histological preparations and sections.
  • Participate in the preparation of scientific publications based on experimental results
  • Presentation of research findings at local, national, and international meetings.

 

REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of postdoctoral experience in vision research.
  • Sound knowledge of visual neuroscience, molecular biology, biochemistry and ability to learn new techniques in immunology, immunohistochemistry and cell culture.
  • Evidence of competence and scientific productivity as indicated by a strong publication record
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
