Kelly Services is seeking a Interim Residential Manager.

We seek a temporary, reliable, energetic and compassionate individual to join our fun and hard-working team! We anticipate the interim position will last 6 to 12 weeks at 40 hours a week. You must have a passion for serving families and be committed to ending family homelessness. The Resident Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of our shelter homes, and fosters a warm, safe and secure environment for our residents. General responsibilities include supervision of the chore schedule and room checks, conduct phone screenings, greet and supervise volunteers, purchase, inventory and distribution of supplies, resources and advocacy, transport residents to appointments, crisis intervention and light housekeeping and maintenance duties.

Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, although there can be a little flexibility. Occasional evenings and weekends are also required.

Maintain a calm demeanor and model positive behavior
Supervise the day-to-day operations and upkeep of the shelter homes
Prepare and oversee Program Calendar, and facilitate daily schedule for residents
Assign and supervise resident chore schedule, daily sanitation schedule for COVID-19, weekly room checks and sign-in/sign-out sheets
Conduct monthly safety checks of the homes, and biannual safety inspections with the Executive Director. Maintain emergency supplies and replenish first aid kits as needed
Conduct monthly property site inspections and keep running maintenance needs list. Schedule resident maintenance needs with property manager. Report urgent and emergency needs to supervisor.
Do phone screenings with potential residents, and maintain wait list when shelter is at capacity
Help facilitate intake process by scheduling in-person intakes, obtaining Releases of Information, etc. Participate in in-person intakes with other team members
Administer drug and alcohol tests to residents as needed
Prepare rooms for new residents, assemble resident manuals, and lead new resident orientations
Provide resources and referrals to residents as needed
Participate in wrap-around services team for residents
Order, pick up and distribute care package orders to residents. Inventory and distribute toiletries and shelter supplies to residents as needed.
Maintain shelter data e.g. intake and outcomes data etc. and provide to supervisor.
Maintain resident paperwork e.g. curfew/overnight requests, infractions, supply request forms, etc., and provide to supervisor for case files.
Using a company vehicle transport residents to appointments, community outings, etc.
Establish continued relationships and communication with families in our Aftercare Program
Assist with recruitment, supervision and retention of shelter volunteers
Staff the shelter office phone, and assist with after-hours crisis phone coverage as needed
Communicate regularly with other team members to ensure consistency and quality of service
Do supply runs for shelter as needed
Attend weekly community meetings, supervision, staff meetings and trainings
Other duties and special projects as assigned

Social Work or a related field, and a minimum of 2 years of experience working with families in crisis and/or low-income and diverse populations. A combination of equivalent education and/or experience will be accepted
Knowledge of domestic violence, mental health, and substance abuse issues


Exhibit a positive and compassionate attitude, sensitivity, and the ability to work well with others in a close residential setting
Model positive behavior, appropriate boundaries, and the ability to use sound judgment during times of crisis
Prior experience working with homeless families in a shelter environment
Knowledge of various types of housing programs available to homeless families
Experience working with children with special needs
